Proposed Make Up of 2011-12 Cricket Season

Senior

Two rounds of One-Day (50 over matches) and one round of Declaration. The First Round would include Otago Country the following One-Day and Declaration rounds would then include byes.

One-Dayers: Round One: Oct 1 – Nov 12

One-Dayers: Round Two: Nov 19 – Dec 17, Jan 28 & Feb 4

Declaration: Feb 11 – March 24

One-Day rounds would need to be two distinct competitions giving Otago Country something to play for. (Speights Cup - Round One and Southern Sports Bar & Grill One-Day Cup - Round Two.)

Top Three teams after first round not including Otago Country will represent Dunedin in the Otago National Club Championships Qualifying Competition.

Pre-season matches: Clubs to organise individual requirements, Bookings of grounds can be made (via DCA) for dates from September 17^th.

Challenge Cup to be played for each round excluding matches v Otago Country or if holders have the bye.

Friday Night Senior Club Knockout

7 senior club teams plus 1 other (Sec School, Second XI, OCA age-group)

Prize money: $1000.00?

Final: Televised, Channel 9?

Second Grade

Proposal One:

• Pre-Christmas one full round - 12 teams (Oct 1 – Dec 18), Final 12^th Feb (Sunday). No matches Labour weekend

• Post-Christmas split into pools: Pool 1: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11; Pool 2: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.

• One round Declaration– 5 games (Jan 28 – March 3). No matches Waitangi weekend

  • cross over semi-finals and then final (Play-off Matches: March 10^th & 17th, Reserve Day March 24^th for final only)

Club T20

          2 weeks: Jan 14^th & Jan 21^st

Proposal Two:

• March 3rd – March 17^th Second Grade T20: Two games a day on March 3^rd & 10^th. One game  March 17^th (Pool winners play Final Saturday March 24^th) 

Third Grade and Fourth Grade

• Similar to last season, ask for entries for each grade.
• 40 Over matches in each grade, with Semi-Finals and Finals (Oct 8 – March 24) Final Reserve Day March 31^st
• No matches Labour weekend or Waitangi weekend
• Twenty20 matches in March only during play-offs for teams not competing in Finals

Masters Twenty20

Open entry for 4 teams. Teams of 11 players (35 years or older with max of 2 younger players dispensation)

4 week competition, mix of early (11am) & late (3pm) games

Dates: Jan 21^st, Jan 28^th, Feb 11^th & Feb 18^th (No matches Waitangi weekend)

Entries confirmed by Dec 16^th

Cost: $75 + GST per team.
