University Grange (Otago) 101 (I Butler 37) lost to Karori (Wellington) 102/4 (S Allen 53*) by six wickets.
Wellington’s Karori have comprehensively beaten Otago’s University Grange to claim the 2010 Southern Trust National Cricket Club Championship. University Grange won the toss and elected to bat first and were immediately under pressure from a Wellington side that came out firing. Aaron Redmond went early through a spectacular catch taken by Stephen Murdoch and when in form batsman Michael Bracewell fell soon after things began to swing in Karori’s favour. Only a saving 37 from Ian Butler, batting at five, helped the Otago side reach three figures. University Grange eventually dismissed for 101. Karori’s Simon Allen got Karori’s run chase of to flying start and his composed innings of 53 not out off 54 balls led the Wellington side to 102/4 and with it the 2010 Championship.

East Christchurch Shirley (Canterbury) 260 (M Peacock 43, M Papps 38, T Muir 36, T Papps 34, C Turkington 4-58) beat Mainstream Freyberg (Central Districts) 172 (D Raynor 42) by 88 runs.
Canterbury’s East Christchurch Shirley has defeated Central Districts Mainstream Freyberg by 88 runs to claim 3rd place at the Southern Trust National Cricket Club Championship. After winning the toss and electing to bat first East Christchurch Shirley amassed 260 all out following useful contributions from Michael Peacock (43), Michael Papps (38), Tim Muir (36) and Tim Papps (34). In reply, only Dom Raynor (42) got a start for Mainstream Freyberg and the Central Districts side were eventually all out for 172.

Parnell (Auckland) 98 (T Goodin 5-41, D Busch 3-28) lost to Mt Maunganui (Northern Districts) 99/9 (S Pasupati 4-35, J Walsh 4-34) by one wicket.
Northern Districts’ Mt Maunganui battled to a one wicket win over Auckland’s Parnell to claim 5th place at the Southern Trust National Cricket Club Championship. Parnell, who elected to bat first, had no answer for the strike force of Tony Goodin (5-41) and Dean Busch (3-28) who picked up eight wickets between them to help dismiss Parnell for a paltry 98. But Parnell were never going to lie down and Shoruban Pasupati (4-35) and James Walsh (4-34) combined to take eight wickets between them and have Mt Maunganui in real trouble at 84/9. But it was to be Tony Goodin’s day. Goodin and Chris Atkinson put together a 28 run ninth wicket partnership to guide Mt Maunganui to 99/9 and with it 5th place in the Championship.

University Grange booked their place in the final after a scintillating innings from Michael Bracewell helped the Otago side claim a four wicket victory over Auckland’s Parnell. Parnell posted 260 as Chey Barnes (53) and Angus McLean (51) notched up a pair of half centuries. But it was to be Michael Bracewell’s day.
